Wine Advocate 88 points - Tart and earthy, this unusual Pinot does not lack for flavor interest. Cranberry fruit, sharp acidity, a streak of cola, a hint of wintergreen and a slight bitterness to the finish keep the palate on its toes (if such is possible).

BENTON LANE VINEYARDS
2011 BENTON LANE PINOT NOIR
"Benton Lane not only produces their upper-tier "First Class" bottling from 2011, but the 2011 Pinot Noir Estate made a delicious impression when tasted this July. Grenadine and purple plum, coriander and black tea, bacon and leather in the nose lead to a correspondingly complex palate impression. Tart-edged, smoky, and faintly sweaty in its saline-carnal tang, this glassy-textured Pinot finishes with a burst of bright berry juiciness accompanied by lightly-burnt smokiness. I suspect it will be best enjoyed by 2017." David Schildknecht Wine Advocate 88 points
