Antonio Galloni 92 points - The 2011 Blau is a blend of 50% Carinena, 25% Syrah and 25% Garnacha from vines aged between 25 and 40 years planted at 600 meters and aged in oak for four months. It has an attractive fresh red currant and raspberry-scented bouquet that is fresh and defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet candied entry. This is well-balanced with a crisp seam of acidity, while the finish is simple but clean and packed full of red fruits. This is a great price for a great little wine. Drink now-2015. ”
BODEGAS MAS DE CAN BLAU 2011 MAS DE CAN BLAU MONTSANT
"(35% carinena, 35% syrah and 30% garnacha; aged in French oak for 18 months): Lurid purple. A seductively perfumed bouquet evokes smoky blackberry, boysenberry and vanilla, with a potent floral quality building with air. Sappy dark berry and candied cherry flavors show liqueur-like power, staining the palate while showing surprising vivacity. Notes of violet pastille and dark berries cling on the persistent finish, which features supple tannins and a hint of licorice." Josh Raynolds Vinous Media 92 points Drink 2016-19
|Wine maker notes
|The vineyards of Garnacha planted on soils of slate -llicorella-, Carinena vineyards grow on clay soils and Syrah vineyards located on limestone soils to obtain this complex wine after 12 months of maturing in French oak barrels.
|Cellers Can Blau, founded in 2003, is one of the oldest projects of the Gil Family in Jumilla. Placed in El Molar, in the D.O. Montsant, this winery is the most diverse project regarding the grape varieties and the type of soils. The D.O. Montsant is nowadays releasing at its best the enological quality of its wines. Differently from its illustrious adjacent D.O. Priorato, in D.O. Montsant we work with unique varieties such as Carinena or Mazuelo and Grenache, planted in and adapted to different types of soils. Nuria Lopez Sarroca is the person in charge of the technical direction of the Winery.
