James Suckling 95 points - The 2007 Barolo Vecchie Vigne delle Brunate is quite a bit richer and darker than the straight Brunate, but lacks that wine’s sheer appeal. This may be a case where too much of a good thing is, well, too much of a good thing. The finish is rather clipped, and the wine never seems to really come together. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027. ”

2007 MARENGO BAROLO BRUNATE
"What a nose to this wine. Wonderful aromas of fresh strawberries, flowers and sandalwood. Full body, with ultra-fine tannins and a beautiful balance of acidity and fruit. This is a clean, focused and chic wine. Hard not to drink now but will be better in 2013." James Suckling 95 points
|The estate has belonged to the Marengo family since 1899, for three generations. Barolo ”Brunate” bears the character of the extraordinary vineyard it comes from. The range of wines also includes Barolo Bricco Viole, made from a tiny vineyard of the same name, and small quantities of Barbera and Dolcetto. After his father passed away in 2001, Marco Marengo is managing the winery with the same dedication and passion.
