Steve Tanzer 93 points - A foudre and concrete tank-aged blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, the 2011 Gigondas (which was still in tank at the time of this tasting) is a traditional, character filled effort that gives up notions of saddle leather, dried pepper, cedar and spice-laced berry fruit on the nose. This flows to a medium-bodied, fresh and nicely fruited 2011 that has solid mid-palate depth and good length on the finish.

DOMAINE DU GOUR DE CHAULE 2011 DU GOUR DE CHAULE GIGONDAS TRADITION
"Bright ruby. Heady scents of black raspberry, pit fruits and potpourri, with a bright mineral quality adding definition and lift. Stains the palate with intense, spice-accented red and dark berry flavors that put on weight with air. The floral quality comes back strong on the finish, which shows striking clarity and sweet, penetrating persistence. This wine was still awaiting bottling when I tasted it in mid-November."
