DOMAINE ERMES PAVESE
2011 ERMES PAVESE BLANC DE MORGEX ET DE LA SALLE
Morgex is the area, located just to the south of Mont Blanc in the region of Valle d'Aosta, Italy. It is the highest area in Italy, where grapes are cultivated at about 4000 feet. Starting with barely two hectares of vineyards. Pavese has gradually expanded his holdings in this high altitude zone. He now produces three versions of Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle. Because these vineyards are so isolated, Pavese has been able to work with the original, pre-phylloxera root stock since that malady never infiltrated this area when it came sweeping through Europe many years ago.
"Fresh and fruity with bright melons, honey dew, and strewn apple
. Full and bright, with clean acidity. It's a dense and rich wine with a long finish. Lovely fruit. From a beautiful mountainous area of Italy
