The Dauny family has been cultivating and producing Sancerre since 1683 on the famous slope of Champtin. The twelfth generation of the family, Nicole and Christian, now are carrying on the family tradition with sons Benoit and Thibaut ensuring the family legacy will be passed on. In 1964 the vineyard moved over to organic farming, becoming the first in the area to do so.
The 40-acre vineyard is made up of a combination of limestone and chalk. The sauvignon Blanc comes from limestone soil with a southern exposure and 40-year-old vines. The remaining 10 acres are planted with Pinot Noir that is used to produce red and raised wine.
