Colour: Intense cherry red Bouquet: Scent of mature blackberry and raspberry with notes of soft spices like liquorice and cacao Taste: Soft, full and velvet palate, tannis in balance
Wine Enthusiast 90 points - Another superb value, the 2009 Cerasuolo di Vittoria boasts a serious core of dark red and black fruit. Hints of smoke, menthol, licorice and tar round out this powerful, intense Nero d’Avola/Frappatto blend. I imagine the 2009 is best enjoyed over the next year or two, while the fruit retains its juiciness and richness. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2014.

Producer
Valle dell’Acate’s Bidini manor and vineyards are nestled among the hills of Ragusa in the Dirillo valley of South Eastern Sicily. Today, sixth- generation descendant Gaetana Jacono runs the show, the first woman in the family to do so. She has infused the winemaking traditions of her ancestors with a modern eye towards business and entrepreneurialism to obtain the estate’s international recognition. The estate comprises over one hundred hectares of land, both for grapevines as well as Sicily’s famous blood oranges. Due to Jacono’s commitment to her ancestor’s land many of the vineyards have been replanted to the great traditional grapes of Sicily which are all farmed organically. Case Ibidini are the entry level wines of the estate and they are known for their easy drinking appeal, while still being serious wines with Sicilian character. Gaetana views the Casa Ibidini wines as “La Chiave di Casa Mia” or the key to my house, and an open bottle should provide a feeling of comfort as if you were a guest in her home in Sicily.
