Wine Advocate 91+ points - The 2012 Chablis 1er Cru Vaudevey comes from a 5.5-hectare selection from Laroche?s 10 hectares holding and is always the last to be picked (here finishing on October 8) and it is raised in less than 20% used oak. It has a pleasant reduction on the nose, with fine mineralite coming through with aeration. The palate is very pretty with light orange peel and citrus notes, tensile toward the finish though dipping a little before the finish line. Drink now-2017.
DOMAINE LAROCHE 2012 LAROCHE CHABLIS VAUDEVEY
"Recently assembled from tank, the estate-bottled Laroche 2012 Chablis Vaudevey (whose site name they spell as one word) delivers a lusciously juicy, engaging amalgam of lime, grapefruit and white peach suffused with saline, alkaline, and chalky mineral matter as well as pungent nettle and sage. Polished in texture, stony and bright without being hard-edged, this should perform well through at least 2018. Viennois notes that only a small portion of this wine sees foudre or barrel because he wants to underscore the rectitude and brightness that he considers inherent in the site. One of the tank portions was still fermenting its last bit of sugar when I visited, so was let out of the pre-assemblage I tasted, which was hence not complete."
