Wine Advocate 96 points - This wine displays plenty of black raspberries, black currants, espresso roast, Asian soy and plum sauce along with some mocha and chocolate. Beautifully rich, firm, and full-bodied, with sweet but abundant tannins, this is a classy, noble style of wine that should be forgotten for at least 5-7 years and drunk over the following 20. Remarkably, the alcohol, like most of the wines in the J. P. Moueix stable of Pomerols and St.-Emilions, hit 14.5%. (Feb 2013)
In the spring of 1999, Ets. Jean-Pierre MOUEIX purchased the Château CERTAN
GIRAUD from the eponymous family. The property was divided in two parts, one
of which was sold. The remaining acreage, located on the famous plateau of
Pomerol, was renamed HOSANNA, a name which evokes praise and acclamation. It faces Château PETRUS and lies between Château LAFLEUR and VIEUX Château CERTAN.
The beautiful red gravel soil has layers of clay; the vines are between 25 and 50 years of age, with an average of 40 years and quite a high percentage of Cabernet Franc.
Since the acquisition, extensive work has been carried out in the vineyard, including the installation of new drainage and wells.
Château HOSANNA marries elegance and depth and could become, thanks to the delicate touch of the Cabernet Franc, a feminine counterpart to Château PETRUS.
