Vinous 93 points - At nearly ten years of age, the 2004 Barbera d’Asti Superiore Nizza Riserva della Famiglia is just beginning to enter its early plateau of maturity! Smoke, tar, tobacco, orange peel and mocha are some of the many notes that are woven together in this deeply expressive Barbera. The 2004 needs another year or so in bottle, but it is a serious wine that needs to be opened in advance and enjoyed over several hours. There are few wines that can match a first-rate Barbera with bottle age. Coppo has done a fabulous job with their 2004 Riserva della Famiglia.
