Amalia has a dark, almost black, very deep color. Its a robust, fleshy wine that highlights liquorice, cloves, black pepper, as well as black fruit such as ripe berries and floral notes of violets and lavender. All of this with a pilsating acidity, nice and fresh with voluminous and elegant tannins. Wine full of complexity and elegance.
Wine Advocate 88 points - The 2009 Amalia is a blend of 60% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Carmenere, cropped at 35hl/ha and raised in French oak for 12 months. It has a rich, ostentatious bouquet with dark cherry, kirsch and creme de cassis that shows a modicum of restraint. The palate is smooth and rounded on the dark chocolate covered entry. It glides across the palate with seductive, silky smooth tannins and a lush, mocha-coated finish. It is not a complex wine, but is packed full of flavor. Drink now-2017.”,,, (Dec 2012)

Producer
Chateau Los Boldos was created in 1991 with the aim of producing Premium wines from Chile. Its founder envisioned wines that would benefit from century old French winemaking techniques combined with Chile’s terroir potential and ability to produce outstanding wine grapes. This dream was materialized in a single vineyard property and winery in Cachapoal Andes region, 100 km. south of Santiago, gathering unique conditions for Chateau Los Boldos to produce its wines, controlling every single part of the process. The vineyard that existed previous to Chateau Los Boldos boosted an amazing opportunity and potential for production of Icon wines due to its old plantations. To name a few, Chateau Los Boldos benefits from a Cabernet Sauvignon parcel planted in 1948 and a Merlot parcel planted in 1959.Along the years Chateau Los Boldos affirmed itself as a Premium Chilean wine producer. This was acknowledged not only by the awards and recognition achieved by its wines, but also by the interest it raised across markets around the world, which lead to its well-established presence in different parts of the globe. In 2008 Chateau Los Boldos became part of Sogrape Family. Seeing the terroir quality and nobility, Sogrape instigated a vast program of reform and investment. Today Chateau Los Boldos is present in over 40 countries and strives every day to deliver high quality wines to its customers. Quality, sustainability and aim for perfection matched with a passion for wines makes Chateau Los Boldos to continue its quest for more and face the future with excitement and enthusiasm.
