Wine Advocate 92 points - The 2008 Lamaione opens with expressive, beautifully delineated bousquet. Sweet grilled herbs, tobacco, smoke and licorice add complexity to the fruit in this harmonious wine. This is a very pretty, restrained vintage for Lamaione. Silky tannins render the wine accessible today, but it will be even better once the tannins soften a bit further. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. (Apr 2012)
Lamaione is an exceptionally superb Supertuscan produced by the CastelGiocondo tenuta from merlot grown in the 12-hectare Lamaione vineyard, whose vines were planted in 1976 at an elevation of 300 metres.
