The Grand Cru of Hengst is an exceptional site for growing Gewurztraminer. Facing south/south-east, the steep slope is a conglomeration of shale and limestone soils. This wine is full-bodied and rich with floral aromas, spice notes, and ripe exotic fruit flavors.

| Looking out the back door of Philippe and Corrine Ehrhart’s cave you have a noble view. This small estate of 20 hectares is located in the village of Wettolsheim, which backs up to the vineyards of Steingrubler, Rosenberg, Hengst, Herrenweg and Brand.
The Ehrhart family committed themselves to organic farming 2 generations ago and the wines are all certified organic. Most of the work is done by family members by hand and the wines show wonderful purity and elegance. Each block is vinified separately and the wines rest on their lees for up to 6 months before bottling. |
