Wine Advocate 93 points - The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Lamb Vineyard emerges from the glass with ripe dark fruit, spices and mint in a decidedly, richer, more textured style of Cabernet compared to the Coach Insignia. Layers of fruit blossom in the glass, giving the finish a plush, voluptuous quality that is impossible to resist. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020. (Feb 2012)
Nestled at the foot of the Palisades in the northern Napa Valley, our Lamb Vineyard has become a source of great pride and pleasure for our family over the past quarter of a century. The Cabernet vines were planted in 1982, and since then, year in and year out, the fruit has produced a wine with that rare combination of rich, concentrated flavors, velvet texture and elegance. The wine's remarkable purity brings rave reviews from many wine lovers. We are proud to be caretakers of such a remarkable piece of earth and to share its bounty.
|The winery was founded in 1973, when Fred and Juelle Fisher purchased 100 acres in the Mayacamas Mountains on the western slope of Spring Mountain. There, they built a winery tucked in among the vines and Douglas firs. The winery itself is a product of the estate, having been built from the timber that was cut and milled onsite and crafted into an award-winning facility by their good friend and architect, William Turnbull. In 1976, the family found another 57 acres on the Silverado Trail in the Napa Valley. The property runs from the Napa River to the Eastern Vaca Range, adjacent to the famed Eisele Vineyard, and is the source of the Lamb Vineyard Cabernet, Coach Insignia Cabernet and Cameron Bordeaux Blend. Fisher Vineyards' mission is to grow and produce wines of consistent, world-class quality that express their unique mountain or valley heritage in the truest sense of terroir, yielding classic balance and style that transcends time.
The Coach Insignia honors Fisher's family's tradition of craftsmanship, first represented in fine automobiles of the 20th century with Body by Fisher and now in Fisher Vineyards' wines of the 21st century. The Coach Insignia Cabernet represents the pinnacle of their winemaking craft, comprised of the finest selected lots of Bordeaux varietals from their Napa Valley Estate.
