Wine Advocate 95 points - The 2007 Amarone della Valpolicella Campo dei Gigli is a definite “wow” wine with the muscular build and brawn of a superstar. And like the true protagonist it is, the wine magically carries its weight with grace and poise. The bouquet has so much going on starting with dried cherry, spice, leather, pressed rose, root beer, resin and dark roadside tar. The integration is divine, and although you feel the texture and richness of the oak, any obviously toasted notes are tucked neatly in the back. The wine ends with a touch of sweet cherry liqueur and undeniable heat (the alcohol is 16%). I’d give this wine five more years to soften. Drink 2016-2028.  (Oct 2013)

Brothers Tiziano, Armando, Paolo and Massimo Castagnedi own Tenuta Sant’Antonio, a winery located in the eastern part of the Valpolicella zone in Italy. The original estate, a 49 acre parcel inherited from their father, almost doubled in size when the brothers acquired 74 acres in 1989. The estate vineyards are planted along the hillsides in Mezzane, Lavagno, and San Martino Buon Albergo at an average altitude of 1,148 feet. Their meticulous attention to viticulture and combined with hand harvesting ensures high-quality fruit, ergo minimal intervention in the cellar.
Producer
Inheritors of their father's 20 hectare estate in the eastern part of the Valpolicella zone, the four Castagnedi Brothers (Tiziano, Armando, Paolo & Massimo) acquired another 30 hectares in 1989, which spurred the birth of the estate’s first wines as Tenuta Sant'Antonio in 1995. All four brothers are involved in the project, with extensive experience managing their father's vineyards as well as consulting for properties throughout Italy. Tenuta Sant'Antonio's hillside vineyards are located among the Mezzane, Lavagno, and San Martino Buon Albergo villages at an average altitude of 350 meters. Meticulous attention to vine density (Guyot trained at 7-8,000 vine per hectare), hand harvesting, and low yields provide fruit of exceptional quality, requiring minimal "intervention” during wine-making. Due to their commitment to quality and extensive estate vineyard holdings, they are positioned to become one of the most important producers in the Valpolicella zone, offering both availability and affordability.
