Very intense and deep red color. The aroma is sweetwith notes of tobacco, blackberry, violet and leather. On the palate the structure is wide and deep, supple and well integrated with good acidity and elegant tannins. The long finish lingers with spice and toasted coffee notes.
Wine Advocate 90 points - A much more masculine wine, the 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Poggio all’ Oro is all about power. Smoke, tar, licorice, game and leather wrap around a deep, powerful core of fruit. There is little of the seductiveness of the Poggio alle Mura, instead this is a wine of pure power and masculine intensity. The hugely tannic finish has little of the sexiness of this radiant vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2022. (Jun 2013)
On the famed estate of Castello Banfi, where traditional practices are carefully blended with modern technology, rests the single vineyard named La Pieve, from which this spectacular wine originates. Here, with near perfect conditions of climate, soil and sun, the celebrated Sangiovese grape achieves greatness.
Made from 100% Sangiovese grapes carefully selected for superior quality, Poggio all`Oro is aged for a total of five years, including a minimum of two years in French oak barriques. With a ruby-red color complemented by a rich bouquet, this wine emerges with exceptional depth and character. Soft, yet intense, it demonstrates hints of plum, chocolate and cherries.
A wine of distinguished quality, Poggio all`Oro Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is perfect for meditative sipping or as an ideal accompaniment to red meats and robust cheeses.
|"Banfi, truly one of the leaders of the region, takes its unusually fine Brunello to another level, with this huge single vineyard wine."
