Wine Advocate 90 points - The 2010 Borobo is a blend of 40% Carmenere, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Syrah and 16% Pinot Noir. It has an intense nose of macerated black cherries, blueberry and creme de cassis that is a little alcoholic. The palate is supple on the entry, handling the alcohol with more aplomb than the nose. It is fleshy and corpulent with vanilla infused red fruits on the caressing finish. It has immediate appeal but should age nicely over four to five years. Drink now-2017.  (Dec 2012)

Wine Spectator 93 points - A polished red, with a deep vein of dark currant, plum, chocolate and mocha flavors, well-structured and supported by muscular tannins. The finish is filled with wild cherry and spice notes, presenting hints of black olive. Drink now through 2019.K.M. (Dec 4 2013)

Wine maker notes
Our winemaking philosophy is to respect the purity of the fruit that comes from our very best blocks. A truly hand crafted wine, we nurture our vines and attend to every detail to preserve the potential of the grapes. We hand harvest the fruit in small cases of 14 kilos. The grapes are 100% hand de-stemmed at Clos Apalta Winery so we maintain complete control of the quality. We fill our French oak tanks by gravity. Then nature does its work, allowing native yeasts that slowly ferment the must into wine with temperature control at maximum 28C. Manual pigeages during the fermentation and skin contact is done depending on the variety. We rack the young new wine straight into French oak barrels by gravity. Malolactic fermentation happens in barrels, where the wine stays for 22 months, ageing patiently. The wine is bottled by gravity without any treatment or filtration.

The House of Marnier-Lapostolle (HOML) is one of the last family-owned and operated companies in the beverage industry. HOML has practiced the art of blending and aging Cognacs for over 150 years. Today, HOML is managed by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her father, Jacques - the 5th and 6th generations of the family. Their famous Grand Marnier Liqueur was created in 1880 by Louis Alexandre Marnier Lapostolle, crafted with a blend of aged Cognacs and Caribbean oranges.
