Vinous 89 points - Medium red. Complex aromas of red berries, tobacco, rust and caramel; reminded me of nebbiolo. Sweet, silky and smaller-scaled, with attractive sappy red fruit and tobacco flavors and an absence of rough edges. The note of caramel carries through to the firmly tannic, persistent finish, but there’s also good mineral lift.
Wine Advocate 87 points - The Morot 2007 Beaune Cent Vignes smells more of red meat and game than it does of site-typical cherry. With prominent but not aggressive acidity allied to a satiny texture, and notes of fruit pit and bitter herbs adding pungency, this understated, proportional wine should give considerable pleasure over at least the next 4-6 years.
