An opaque purple, the wine offers aromas and flavors of white flowers, licorice, cassis, blackberries and sweet dark roasted espresso. Firm tannins and notes of crushed rock are nicely featured on the lingering finish.
Wine Spectator 92 points - Appealingly dense and intense, with plenty of ripe and juicy wild blueberry and blackberry flavors, given traction by the firm tannins and notes of crushed rock, violet and tobacco spice. Powerful yet graceful. Drink now through 2024. 550 cases made.

Aratas Wine is located in Napa, California, and was founded by brothers John and Mickey Chohany. Their small, 1.8 acre estate vineyard in the Oak Knoll AVA is planted on alluvial gravel and clay loam and solely to Petite Sirah. Winemaker Mike Drash is highly regarded, prior to Aratas, he was the winemaker for Luna, Far Niente, DeLoach and Jordan Winery. The name Aratas is an homage to the Chohany’s Hungarian heritage.
|The fruit was fermented naturally in small open-top fermentation tanks and aged for two years in French and Hungarian oak barrels. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
