Vinous 92 points - Dark cherries, plums, game, smoke, savory herbs and tobacco burst from the 2008 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva di Costasera. A dark, brooding Amarone, the 2008 certainly does not lack personality. The style is a bit rough around the edges, but the 2008 will drink nicely, especially at the dinner time with similarly hearty fare.
Wine Spectator 88 points - A traditional style, with pronounced earth and smoke notes and accents of prune, grilled mushroom and dried marjoram. Offers a moderate finish, with rustic tannins. Drink now through 2017. 2,333 cases made.-AN
