Typical harmony of fruity and fresh vines maturing on the Venetian hills. The ”Ripasso” technique, soaking (”tociando”) in a carefully made Valpolicella wine the Amarone peels, adds an additional complexity with morellos, spices, tobacco and dry grape scents. The result is an intriguing complexity without the oak ageing scents and the fisical structure of the Amarone. An elegant wine that loves to be tasted - and drinked
Monteci Societa Agricola S.S.
Marchiopolo makes its appearance on the Italian wine market with a completely new approach towards the production and presentation of wine, a voyage of discovery in search of flavours and emotions which might otherwise end up being forgotten.
Innovation, tradition and, above all, close collaboration with local producers form the basis of the Marchiopolo project, whose aim is to present the most important and typical expressions of Italian winemaking, through the production of excellent, exemplary wines.
The research project and territorial mapping
The first stage of the project is the careful selection of native Italian grape varieties, by means of a nationwide mapping process, with a view to discovering the areas of finest production and the original grape varieties which best reflect the local territory. The search also extends to local growers who continue to adhere to the historic traditions and get the most out of the natural qualities of their products.
The production process is a joint effort, based on close collaboration and continuous, constructive exchanges of experience between the producers and the Marchiopolo winemaker, Roberto Pepe, who monitors each stage in the production process down to the finest detail, from the vineyard to the bottle.
We work together to recover the native grape varieties and others at risk of extinction which deserve to be saved and protected. The result is wines which are truly unique.
The Marchiopolo Collection
The Marchiopolo Collection consists of 10 highly prestigious products made in limited quantities, taking wine lovers on an unforgettable journey the length and breadth of Italy, from the Valtellina to Sicily. From the sparkling wine of Franciacorta Pas Opere to Salina Bianco, Pignola Valtellinese and Monreale Perricone, the journey ends with an Amarone made in the traditional way, in a perfect expression of the balance between vines and territory.
The project is the result of Giovanni’s great passion for wine and his wish to create a product of exceptional quality which will serve as an ideal gift for special occasions.
In this way, almost by chance, he began to search for and select the best Italian native grape varieties, and the process developed into a truly unique, revolutionary recovery and production project.
In the words of Giovanni Marchiorello, “I’ve taken a passion of mine and transformed it into something useful. Since I was young, I’ve frequently lived alone, as a result of which I developed an interest in cooking. This led to my attempts to combine wines and specific dishes, and the first results I obtained were rather disappointing, because the food was excellent but the wines weren’t up to much.
I therefore set out on a search for better products, bearing in mind that wine can also be drunk on its own, not necessarily as an accompaniment to food. The vital thing was to leave the traditional approach behind and experiment, which is precisely what we’re doing with MARCHIOPOLO”.
