Wine Advocate 88 points - The 2011 Blanc des Rosis is a blend of 50% Friulano, 20% Malvasia, 20% Pinot Grigio, 5% Ribolla Gialla and 5% Sauvignon. The bouquet is deeply redolent of fragrant flower and dried rose petal. In fact, the floral aspect is the wine’s most attractive and compelling feature. Soft texture is backed by stone fruit and toasted almond. The mouth-feel is capped by soft acidity. Drink: 2014-2017. (Dec 2013)

The Schiopetto family has been in the Italian wine business for three generations. Mario Schiopetto founded this legendary estate in 1965 and was responsible for producing wines that would eventually inspire an entire generation of winemakers. Following Mario’s death in 2003, his children Maria, Angela, Carlo and Giorgio have dedicated themselves to preserving the family’s legacy. To that end, in 2009, they released a charter of excellence which outlines their commitment to the land and to honest, authentic winemaking. The family owns 75 acres of vineyards, which extend from the former residence of the Bishop of Gorizia in Capriva del Friuli to the eastern hills of Friuli, or more specifically, the Podere dei Blumeri in the Rosazzo hills. The soils of this region - called ponca - have a high percentage of limestoneclay marl, which is thought to lend the pronounced crushed mineral element to the wines. The heart of the estate is the yeast room in the winery where the various yeasts used for fermentation are grown. Selected by Wine & Spirits Magazine as Top 100 Winery of the Year in 2006, 2007 and 2009.

The Schiopetto family has been in the wine business for three generations. Mario Schiopetto founded this legendary estate in 1965, producing wines that would eventually inspire the entire wine industry. Since his death, his children Maria, Angela, Carlo and Giorgio have demonstrated their commitment to running the family winery. The Schiopetto family’s 75 acres of vineyards cover the estate surrounding the former residence of the Bishop of Gorizia in Capriva del Friuli, and the Podere dei Blumeri in the Rosazzo hills that form part of the eastern hills of Friuli. Since the beginning Schiopetto has set a standard of unrelenting quality that covers vineyard practice as well as vinification. The vines are planted in a unique soil type known locally as Ponca, which lends tremendous crushed-mineral clarity to the wines. The heart of the winery is the yeast room, which plays a vital role in the company’s philosophy and production process. This is where the various types of yeast required to trigger fermentation are grown. Cutting edge technology is used to eliminate the risk of error and carry out the art of winemaking. Schiopetto is one of Italy’s foremost white wine producers. It was selected by Wine & Spirits Magazine as Top 100 Winery of the Year in 2006, 2007 and 2009.
