Wine Advocate 90 points - The 2009 Alfa Crux Malbec is pure Malbec from La Consulta aged for 20 months in new oak barrels, of which 80% is French and 20% American. It has a very ripe bouquet, opulent and ravishing with glossy macerated dark cherries, iodine, fresh fig and vanilla. To be honest, as much as I adored Fournierís wines, I find this a little too ripe. The palate is rich and powerful, with intense, mineral-rich black fruit and toasty oak, leading to a black pepper-laced finish. For its style, it is certainly well-made, but it is a little unbalanced on the finish. Drink 2014-2021.
