For those who wish to enjoy the Tuscan good life, Podere Ciona offers accommodation in an 18th century Tuscan farmhouse and cottage, both newly restored and outfitted with intimate interiors, private terraces, swimming pools and magnificent views.
Whether stopping in for the day or enjoying a weekly stay, visitors can choose from a selection of ways to explore the area's bountiful offerings, from visiting the nearby medieval treasures of Florence and Siena, to cycling or hiking tours of the Tuscan hills, to touring neighboring vineyards, to sampling and learning traditional Tuscan cooking recipes with your hostess, home cook Franca Gatteschi and the other Tuscan Mamas who cook with Tutti a Tavola.
Symbolized by the Gallo Nero (Black Rooster) on local wine labels, Chianti Classico is the original Tuscan wine region, first cultivated in the 14th century. Located near the town of Gaiole in Chianti and surrounded by other picturesque vineyards, Podere Ciona is home to proprietors Franco and Franca Gatteschi, who produce some of the region's most highly rated Chianti Classico DOCG Riservas.
Besides it’s Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, Podere Ciona is currently producing the flagship wine of the estate, Le Diacce – a Merlot-based IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) – and two young IGTs, Montegrossoli and Semifonte, respectively based on Sangiovese and Merlot grapes. In certain vintages, there is also a small production of Rosé wine.
The internationally renowned enologist and agronomist Dr. Stefano Chioccioli supervises grape growing and winemaking.
Visitors and guests are welcome, by appointment, to enjoy a tour of the cellars and a tasting of the estate's wines.
