2017 THIVIN COTE DE BROUILLY CUVEE ZACCHARIE
"Stunning, concentrated black cherries and plenty of the characteristic acidity of the vintage, both seamlessly interwoven with the gentle tannins and the minerality through the very long, super clean finish. Exemplary use of oak. Almost endless finish. Drink or hold." James Suckling 96 points Drink 2023-30

The 2019 Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Zaccharie is a selection of the best fruit raised in barriques for around 10-12 months, after which there is a second selection. It sports an intense nose, but the fruit is still cloaked in oak at the moment (though a judicious 10% is used). The palate is very smooth and harmonious, displaying fine acidity and plush blackberry and raspberry flavors intermingling with black pepper and vanilla. Ripe and caressing in texture on the finish. This will benefit from 3-4 years in bottle. I like the Cuvée Zaccharie, although I feel that the La Chapelle just conveys more Beaujolais DNA.
