A core of black cherry, plum and blueberry fruit is augmented by earth, tobacco and rosemary in this chunky red, which is balanced, with a light granular quality to the tannins. The herb elements linger, along with the fruit. Drink now through 2025. 13,300 cases made, 4,200 cases imported.

The 2018 Nobile di Montepulciano is dark and moody in the glass, wafting up with a mix of red and black currants, woodland herbs and hints of flowery undergrowth. Here I'm finding a soft and pure expression of red fruits and spice, motivated by saline-tinged acids and minerals that collect toward the close. It tapers off with medium length and lightly structured as inner violet florals slowly fade.
