Piper Heidsieck Rare 1999
"A nicely toasty Champagne, with lots of smoke, brioche, lemon peel, honey, dried apricot and roasted nut flavors. Firm acidity provides a lovely freshness and framework, and it's seamlessly integrated with the flavors and refined texture. Features more nut and smoke notes on the long, lingering finish." Wine Spectator 95 points Drink 2023+
This is styled in a relatively mature, slightly oxidized fashion. It's round and full-bodied, with lots of oily, buttered-nut flavors. But it is not at all tired or tiring; an underpinning of crisp apple keeps it lively and fresh in the mouth. It drinks very well right now, as if it had been cellared for four or five years.
An evocative bubbly, bursting with lime, floral and mineral notes allied to a vibrant, elegant frame. Very smooth, with a chalky texture on the finish and a long aftertaste. Drink now. 1,000 cases imported.
