A medium-bodied red with plums and cherries as well as spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon. Fine tannins and a fresh finish. Easy to drink for a 2019. Drink now or hold.

The brick red-colored 2019 Barolo has an expressive nose woven with notes of dried cherries, menthol, black truffles, and pine. It boasts a good deal of energy on the palate, with ripe concentration, an even spine of acidity, and a sanguine lift of iron on the finish. Offering ripe tannins, a velvety texture, and a good finish, this is a solid entry Barolo to enjoy over the next 5-6 years.

This is not technically called "Tradizione," but it is known as such thanks to its very pretty throw-back label design. The wine is traditional in spirit because it sources fruit from various sites, just like the blended Barolos of yesteryear. The Marchesi di Barolo 2019 Barolo Tradizione covers most of the Nebbiolo basics, but it fails to show the clarity and focus that was easily obtainable in this vintage. There are muddled aromas of wild fruit, flowers, earth and spicy peppercorn. Production is 20,000 bottles.

The 2019 Barolo Tradizione is a bold, fruity wine to drink now and over the next few years. Plum, cloves, mocha, sweet spice and leather are all amplified in this succulent Barolo.
