"A delicious young red blend with rose petals, violets, ink and blueberries on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and a linear finish. So well made and balanced. Such lovely length. A blend of 80% cabernet sauvignon and 20% merlot. So delicious now, but will age nicely. Drink or hold." James Suckling 96 points Drink 2025-36

The 2021 Belle Cousine Hyde Vineyard, a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, was picked between the end of September and the last few days of October. Silky and aromatic, the 2021 is beautifully poised in its classic proportions. It's a wine that is going to need a few years to be at its best, as it is not especially expressive at this stage. The 2021 exudes freshness. It will be interesting to see if this opens a bit in the mid-palate. Lavender, sage, bay leaf and purplish fruit linger.
