The 2020 Barolo Castelletto is a rather serious, somber wine. Black cherry, leather, incense, spice, tobacco and dried herbs open in the glass, adding layers of dimension to this complex yet understated Barolo. The 2020 packs a serious punch of acid and tannin, its deceptively mid-weight frame notwithstanding. This is an especially savory/mineral style.

Spiced and red-fruited, this Barolo offers notes of cherries, ground cloves, cedar and a hint of undergrowth. Medium- to full-bodied with tightly wound, chewy tannins and a dry, lightly austere aftertaste. Try from 2028.
