Woodward Canyon Chardonnay 2018
|Region||United States, Washington|
Beautifully vibrant flavors of ripe pear, caramel apple, and star fruit marry perfectly with notes of crème brûlée, mineral and hazelnut. Whole cluster pressing gives delineated fruit flavors. Finally, the oak is understated and is in wonderful proportion with the alcohol, fruit and acidity. Physio- logically mature fruit shows in the mouth; the finish is complex, generous, and long. This wine will benefit substantially with a year in bottle and should continue to improve for another several years with proper cellaring.
Aromas of cinnamon, cream, lees, clove and spice draw you into the glass. The palate is creamy in feel, with well-balanced fruit flavors that show a deft touch.
On the nose, the 2018 Washington State Chardonnay opens with nuances of oak, buttered apples and pear tart. Clean on the palate, the wine has a ripe, open core and a nice line of acid, maintaining balance and focus. The wine is clean and correct on the lingering finish. 807 cases made.
