2015 CHATEAU SIMARD SAINT EMILION
"This property is owned and managed by the Vauthier family of Château Ausone. The 2015 Simard is composed of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It sports a medium to deep garnet-purple color and is vibrantly scented of red currants, black cherries and warm plums with hints of violets and fragrant earth. Medium-bodied, very fine, fruity and elegant with ripe, fine-grained tannins and wonderful freshness, it finishes with a red cherry lift." The 2015 Simard is an intense, dark wine. The richness and ripeness of the year is very much in evidence in the wine's succulent jammy fruit flavors. Exotic spice, leather and rose petal overtones wrap around the juicy finish. The 2015 looks to be an attractive, early-drinking Simard. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc fermented and aged mostly in concrete, with about 30% oak.

Made from 100% Merlot, the 2015 Château Simard is a solid, elegant, lightly textured Saint-Emilion that offers plenty of cherry and blackberry fruit intermixed with underbrush, spring flowers, and an almost peppery note. It has an herbal edge, medium body, integrated acidity and a clean finish, all of which make for a charming, incredibly drinkable 2015 that will last for 15 years.

This attractive, soft wine is fresh and crisp, with lively acidity and a bright aftertaste. It is packed with fruit, rounded and ready to drink from mid-2018.
