The 2016 Bertinga, Il Palazzino's Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend is packed with dark fruit, grilled herb, leather, licorice and cedar flavors. Swaths of tannin and lively acids give the wine a real feeling of energy. There is plenty of depth to the Bertinga, a Bordeaux red that speaks with a strong Tuscan accent. I find the Sangioveses more distinctive, but there is plenty to like here as well. The 2016 will shine brightest at the dinner table. I would give the 2016 a good bit of air, as time in the decanter brings out an element of finesse that is not present at the outset. It's an absolutely gorgeous wine.
