The 2020 Barbaresco Bassarin offers more lift on the nose, with bright aromas of candied roses, candied orange, ripe raspberries, and fresh sweet herbs. It has ripe structure on the palate, with an expansive feel and more savory earth underneath. It has a good bit of depth and is going to benefit from another year or so in bottle. Drink 2025-2037.

The 2020 Barbaresco Basarin is bright and driving in feel. Crushed rocks, white pepper, mint, sage and iron give the Basarin a decidedly wild, almost animal feel. Today, the fruit is very much in the background. It will be interesting to see how this develops in bottle. For now, readers should expect a wine of reserve and unresolved power.
