There are roughly 200 cases of the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III (100% Cabernet Sauvignon). Helen has been here since 2013, and the 2018 is more lifted, floral and perfumed, with lots of blue fruits, wild strawberry, violets, candied orange, and spice-like aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it's layered and has silky tannins, beautiful fruit, and a great finish.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III needs a little coaxing to reveal compelling scents of freshly crushed blackberries, black raspberries and red plums, plus suggestions of red roses, underbrush and damp soil with a waft of cedar chest. The medium to full-bodied palate gives a good amount of crunchy red and black berry layers with a finely grained texture and tons of freshness, finishing on a lingering mineral note.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard is a potent, brawny wine. Blackberry jam, scorched earth, licorice, leather and dried herbs give the 2018 its somber personality. There is plenty of depth, but less in the way of finesse. Georges III tannins can be a bit brutish, as they are here.
