Iris, camphor and woodland berry aromas are front and center in this fragrant red. Taut and focused, the elegant, medium-bodied palate features ripe red cherry, strawberry compote and star anise set against tightly wound, fine-grained tannins. It's well balanced, with bright acidity. Drink 2022-2030.

The 2016 Barbaresco Secondine is a pretty, gracious wine. Sweet red cherry, blood orange, mint and spice lend striking aromatic nuance. This is an especially airy, perfumed style from Spinona, where the wines tend to be a bit burlier. I must note, however, that this sample did not arrive in perfect condition.
