2022 HYLAND OLD VINE RIESLING
"Aromas of lemon drop hard candies, honeycomb and red apples fill the air, followed by a wee bit of talc. The palate vibrates with acidity, lighting up Meyer lemon, tonic water with a lemon slice and Bosc pear flavors. Serve with fried goat cheese balls and rule the world." The 2022 Old Vine Riesling features fresh pineapple, lime zest, elderflower and candle smoke aromas. The light-bodied palate is dry and citrusy with pleasing floral character, very tangy acidity and a puckering, lime sherbet-like finish.

The 2022 Riesling Old Vine Single Vineyard wafts up with a spicy blend of crushed peaches, chamomile and hints of petrol. Cooling, toned and saline upon entry, this builds in sweetness as juicy acidity enlivens ripe orchard fruits and a bit of mint forms toward the close. The 2022 finishes squeaky clean and fresh with a citrusy concentration adding pleasant tension. This is nicely balanced at 8.4 grams per liter of residual sugar.

The pale silver-straw 2022 Riesling Old Vine McMinnville is lifted with ripe aromas of candied lime, preserved peaches, a hint of petrol lift, and wet stone. Focused and medium-bodied, with just a kiss of sweet fruit, its fresh acidity feels harmonious and mostly dry, with attractive pithy citrus on the finish. It's a well-balanced, very pretty white to drink over the next few years.
